About me

Assalamu ‘Alaikum and Hello!

Fabulously liberated is a personal journal of  faith, books, thoughts, reflections, and lifestyle. I hope to share my adventures and experiences as a Muslimah, a wife, a student, a book lover, a stationery addict and a friend. I will write about disentangling from the shackles of stereotypism and falling in love with life, Deen and my Lord.

Why is my blog called ‘fabulously liberated’?

It is kind of random. As soon as I decided I wanted a blog, I registered one, set it up and was writing my first blog post when  I realised that I was not feeling it. And it was important that I ‘felt’ it. I made du’a and gave it a rest. Days later, two words came to my mind – fabulous and liberated. I asked a few of my loved ones and they all hated it. LOL! I spoke to someone else and she said: “it is grammatically correct, so I do not see why not especially if that is what you want”. So here we are…

Where do I get my ideas from?

Life! Our very essence. Most of what I write is from my life or my reflections from the happenings in the life of others.

Why do I write?

I write because I love to. I have been writing for as long as I can remember. In writing, I find healing, I have met amazing people, I aim to inspire and be inspired. It is something I strive to be better at, to strengthen my voice and to make a difference.

Random stuff about me?

  • I love books – hoarding, reading, buying, reviewing them and receiving them as gifts. The only things I dislike about books is borrowing or lending them.
  • I am an unapologetic stationery addict.
  • I love the smell of rain.
  • I am a pharmacist by education
  • I have an unhealthy love for popcorn.
